Yesterday after school, Bluefield hosted its first Student Concerns Workshop hosted by our Student Council and led by Oliver Batchilder. Thank you to the staff that attended and supported the event. Students, we are incredibly proud of the way you presented yourselves, your concerns and your solutions. Well done!!
Students will no longer be called to the Detention or Student Success Zone rooms at lunch so if you were told to attend by a teacher, you are to be there at the appropriate times. Detention is at 11:45 in room 149 and SSZ is at 12:00 in room 257.

Calling all Artists! The 2019 Arts Coffee House Mug Design contest is now open! All designs must be on an official mug template which can be picked up from Mr. Strickey. Enter as many time as you wish. Designs are due back to Mr. Strickey by Friday, April 26th. Good luck and be creative!
The Arts Coffee House, which is a celebration of the arts at Bluefield will be held on Thursday, May 23. Any student interested in performing at the coffee house is asked to come to an information meeting at 11:45 in the music room. We are looking for musicians, dancers, writers, and/or dramatic acts to participate at the coffee house. If you would like more information, please attend this meeting.
If any student is looking for a summer job, drop by Student Services for more information!
There will be an Easter Bake Sale at lunchtime. Decorated cookies for $1 and bags of Easter Candy for $2.
Come out and support Bluefield’s Destination Imagination team tomorrow, Thursday, April 18th as they host a Cake Auction to raise funds for their travel to the Global Finals in Kansas City, Missouri next month.
Round 1 of the 2nd annual cribbage tournament is underway! Mrs. McQuaid’s classroom will be available every day at lunch if you need a place to play. Round one games must be complete by next Friday. Don’t forget to keep track of your stats. So far the highest hand is 20 – that’s going to be tough to beat!
Encounters with Canada is Canada’s largest youth form. Applications are now available for students in Grade 10 and 11. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to come together to discover their country through each other, learn about Canadian institutions, meet famous and accomplished Canadians, explore exciting career options, develop leadership skills and live an extraordinary bilingual experience for one week. Information and applications available in Student Services with a deadline of Friday, April 26th, 2019.

Any students who participated in the UPEI Math League Competitions this year are asked to attend a meeting today at the beginning of lunch time in Mrs. Coughlin’s room, Room 111. This meeting is to discuss the possibility of a team from Bluefield attending the NS Math League Competition at the end of April.
Student Vote – Bluefield High School will be participating in the Student Vote on Election Day, April 23rd.
Students will have their chance to mark two ballots. One for their choice of candidate and one for their choice for the electoral reform referendum.
More information to come on the location of polling stations but on Tuesday, April 23 be sure to vote between 8:15 and 9:00 in the morning and at lunch time.
There is a sign-up sheet in the office for any students that would like to participate in helping to run the Student Vote. Please sign up by the end of today, Wednesday. There will be a short meeting on Thursday, April 18th at lunch.
